Eligibility

1. The nominee must live within the City of Kawartha Lakes, own or work at a business within the City of Kawartha Lakes, or attend a school within the City of Kawartha Lakes. The nominee could be a not for profit agency or organization that provides services to the residents of Kawartha Lakes.

2. The nominee will have gone above and beyond the expectation in the area of removing barriers for individuals with disabilities, or, will have worked to increase public awareness of accessibility issues within the City of Kawartha Lakes.

We are pleased to accept nominations all year; the deadline to receive all applications is 4:30pm on the last Friday in March to be considered for that year. Applications received after the deadline will be considered for the following year.

Nominations may include additional references.  Please note that individuals who are listed as references may be contacted to verify the nature and extent of the nominee's accomplishments.  The nominee's immediate family may not be used as a reference.

The Barbara MacArthur Award

This Award of Distinction is presented to an individual in memory of Barbara McArthur the founder and first Chair of the Municipal Advisory Committee for Disabled Persons (MACDP) which is known today as the Kawartha Lakes Accessibility Advisory Committee (KLAAC).

Like Barbara McArthur, the nominee has devoted time and energy beyond normal expectations and in doing so, promoted public awareness and education in the area of removing barriers for individuals with disabilities.

We are pleased to accept nominations all year; the deadline to receive all applications is Friday March 15, 2024. Applications received after the deadline will be considered for the following year.
